2010 cbr 1000rr
horsepower numbers?

15

Some inaccuracies between what the hp rating is on honda’s hottest cbr.

Below is what I have from a mag. yes, it’s 2009, but really, did anything change between 09 and 2010?

Comment, WITH A LINK if you can come up with different hp numbers for the 2010 cbr 1000rr…

    Wikipedia says 178 hp

also sounds like US models might have different HP rating due to EPA regulations on imported bikes:

    Like I said…

“However, there’s a new inline-Four kid in town. And by judging recent feedback about the performance of BMW’s S1000RR, we expect the Big Four are all back at the drawing board feverishly penning new literbikes.”

    The BMW has 193hp.

So I did look up the horsepower and torque numbers for the 2010 CBR1000RR, and I got a lot of varying stats. Yours is the lowest I’ve seen, with the average being 177hp@12000rpm/92ft.lbs. The highest I’ve found is 189hp@12000rpm/112ft.lbs. One consistent stat I found was a wet weight of 439lbs. That leaves the BMWS1000RR 30lbs. heavier, thus losing approximately 6hp to the CBR in weight. Regardless of the actual figures, I feel like it comes down to torque delivery and other than knowing how Honda typically lays out power, I couldn’t accurately speculate as to the performance difference. Chris’s quote suggests that the Japanese don’t measure up, but the Superbike standings don’t reflect this (nor has BMW – to my knowledge – ever been a serious contender here). BMW builds some awesome machines, but my money’s on the Fireblade.

Valentino Rossi could probably only use all the pony’s of a cb400/4 in the street, so what’s the point? ;-)

  8. justin Says:

    @Scott

Seriously. We’re talking some insanely well performing bikes who’s only weakness on the street (or track for that matter) will always be the rider…

No shit… The kind of bottom line is that the bike is sick as hell, and for the price… good luck finding anything that’ll fuck with it. I’ve wanted one of these for LONG time. I haven’t pulled the trigger on it as the way I get into bikes, I’m pretty sure this thing would be death on wheels. I definitely haven’t matured as a rider enough to responsibly ride such a beast!

    @ Justin

From an engineering point of view any of these bikes are mechanical wonder and the performance is incredible, but who can utilize it? Even Rossi couldn’t use those crazy hp numbers on the street, so how many could us mortals use?

I’ll just stick with sub 100 hp performance! ;-)

I hear ya. Damn, I want all that HP, but, I prolly wouldn’t be able to use half of it. But, I still want it.

After getting the cb650 back together, it’s running faster and smoother than it ever has. I got used to riding the cb450 this past month, and last night I’m pretty sure I scared myself in Fairmount park on the 650. That thing is pretty fuckin fast, and it only has 63 hp.
