This lathe has been a invaluable addition at Cast & Salvage but being 68 years old it was in need of some attention. We’ve been using it as is since we picked it up this summer but with more lathe projects we wanted to get it cleaned, lubed, missing pieces replaced, and just get it in better condition to keep it from getting anymore unnecessary wear.

Unfortunately, the bed rails have some decent wear, but it shouldn’t be an issue for the things I’ll be turning. I plan on running some tests to check the accuracy of it.

We got a bunch of extra stuff with the lathe including two 3 jaw chucks, one 4 jaw chuck, collets, taper attachment, live centers (although most of them are trashed), face plate, oem tools…

Cleaning off layers of grim revealed some cool looking badges and stampings.

Next post on the lathe will be about accuracy tests and then motorcycle parts.
