We’re not going to camp this year.
We’re going to meet Sunday morning, and ride to the Norton show.

Sunday, April 24.
8:30am – Meet at Little Susie’s on Belgrade / Leigh.
Be already gassed up before arriving.
We’ll hang at Little Susies for a bit and drink a coffee.
Then on the road by 9:30am.

We’ll take straight highway to the Norton meet.
Prob hang at the meet for an hour or two. And then once we’ve taken it all in, we’ll head out.
I want to do a nice ride from the Norton meet up into the NJ countryside north of where the meet is.
Maybe a ride heading towards “Hillbilly Hall” or “Historic Rocky Hill Inn Tavern” and sit in the sun, drink a beer, or get a bite.
Then do a nice ride home and maybe end at Fishtown Tavern.

Anticipate the day will probably go from 8am until 4pm.
Bring your lady, or come solo. Whatever you wanna do.

We’ve gone to the Norton meet almost every year.
I could only find pics from these previous years.
You’re welcome I make this website not many people check anymore.
Pics from years below:

Norton camping trip 2018 https://www.chinonthetank.com/2018/04/norton-camping-trip-2018/ https://www.chinonthetank.com/2018/04/norton-camping-trip-2018/#comments Mon, 16 Apr 2018 13:56:52 +0000 http://www.chinonthetank.com/?p=19738 Saturday was the best day I’ve had so far in 2018.

  • Woke up early, checked out Adams KZ head he picked up from machine shop.
  • Rode the IT to the coffee shop Andrew Brooks used to work at. Hung for a while.
  • Met at LC to leave for camping. Great to hang and people watch.
  • Dilly burger was amazing.
  • Dcar didn’t loose anything on 95.
  • Andrew Watson and his buddy had rad bmw’s
  • Camp fire was great.
  • Great laughs
  • Guys did weird things in Rodrigo’s tent
  • Whiskey was great
  • I slept like a baby
  • All of Saturday was amazing

Then Sunday morning came

  • It was freezing
  • It was misting and sprinkling
  • The ride home on 95 was one of the coldest miserable hours I’ve spent on a mc
  • I got home and took an hour hot shower to raise my body temp
  • It was all worth it though

Overall – 20 great hours. 1 shitty hour.

Well her she is.  My 1988 BMW r100gspd (i.e. 80gspd replica). I started digging into her last November, and now hundreds of hours later, she is ready to roll! Beside the Paris Dakar make over, the bike has some serious mechanical upgrades.  Most notably the transmission was rebuilt (including adding a circlip to 5th gear). The OEM driveshalf was switched out to the Emerald Island Co’s serviceable / rebuildable unit.  The front brake was switched out with a Harrison Billet 6 with stainless steel lines.  New TCK80s were mounted and all electric connectors were cleaned and greased.  I also switched over the heated grips from my r80rt.  Lastly the taillight was upgraded to an ultra bright LED version + a lot of heat shrink cable work to tidy up the lines. Lots more info and post to come! But here is a taste for now! #bmw #bmwr100gs #r80gs #r80gspd #r100gspd #r100gs

2016 Norton Show Photos https://www.chinonthetank.com/2016/04/2016-norton-show-photos/ https://www.chinonthetank.com/2016/04/2016-norton-show-photos/#comments Mon, 18 Apr 2016 03:15:08 +0000 http://www.chinonthetank.com/?p=15305 It was a great weekend for riding and camping. A bunch of us met up at C&S Saturday afternoon and headed North out of the city. We stopped for dinner at Dilly’s Corner and then setup camp about 20 miles north of New Hope in High Rocks State Park. River Road had a couple detours which put us on some great back roads.

Alex somehow managed to piece back together his Shovelhead with just enough light left to find us at the camp site. From there, his bike managed to piss oil and brake fluid on anyone riding behind him the rest of the trip. Hahaha

Camp ground was great except for getting lectured by the go hard Paul Blart mall-cop Park Ranger that made us dump out most of our beer. This is why everyone needs to carry a big flask.

Night time temps dropped into the low 30’s. Dcar did not handle that well sleeping with only a Mexican blanket.

In the morning we hit up this little deli in Point Pleasant for breakfast. Relaxing with a coffee on their porch was awesome. Great little place.

We actually made it to the show on-time this year. The show had a huge turnout and we got to see lots of cool and rare bikes as well as some old friends.

Blasted back to Philly and ended with a beer at Fishtown Tavern. Overall, it was a great start to the riding and camping season.

Too much different plans going on for this. This is what I’m doing if anyone wants to join…

Ed and I are going to be camping at Deer Wood Campground in the Tohickon Valley Park. We’ve camped here before and it’s nice low key spot and I don’t expect it to be busy. It’s $20 a site for 6 people. However, last time I camped there early in the season there wasn’t any rangers around to collect the 20 bucks.

Weather is supposed to be clear. High of 65 with a low of 40.

Meet up at C&S, we’ll be leaving at 5pm. It’s roughly an 1.5 hr ride to the campsite. We’ll be stopping at Dilly’s Corner for dinner and should get to the campsite with enough light to setup camp and start a fire. Pack your own booze of choice. In the morning, there’s a little deli called Point Pleasant Food Store to stop at for a breakfast sandwich and coffee. The show is a 20min ride from the campsite. I plan to be back in Philly by 1pm.

Anyone reading this is welcome to join. Just make sure your jalopy is good to go.

GOOGLE MAP.

If you haven’t been to the Norton show before take a look at the map. There are 2 Washington Crossing parks. One in PA and one in NJ. The show is on the PA side.

Remember that time a picture of Nate’s bike parked at the Norton show got shit talked on the internet?

If you have never gone it’s worth checking out. The show always starts on time and ends on time so don’t get there too late. Weather looks great for this Sunday so we’ll see you there.
