Philly dirt bike weekend

Adam and I went and ripped around on the dirt bikes yesterday.

We checked out the mountain bike trails behind the hostel in Fairmount park. They go from there… Pretty much all the way to city line ave. It’s way too technical for dirt bikes. We had to lift our bikes over fallen trees.

Then we rode around the ghetto trails on the Delaware river near Leigh ave. It’s pretty awesome back there. Some cool dirt bike jumps too. Super sandy in the one spot and our tires blow so we couldn’t get enough traction to get speed to clear the jump which is actually pretty big. Maybe a 10′ gap. We could only make it 1/2 way.

Be careful over by on those trails by Lehigh, I’ve heard too many stories of people getting stuck up for bikes back there. Same with those trails by the airport.

Yea good call. Probably best to have a group if you’re going back there. Or pack heat.

You are right that a lot of the trails back behind the hostel are too technical for dirt bikes, but there are some pretty decent dirt bike trails back there.

As for the trails by Lehigh, I think you found the best way to ride there and not have to worry about getting your bike jacked…go when it is 30 degrees outside.

1984 Kawasaki GPz900r

Wow. BikeEXIF actually had something on it I found interesting. In case you didn’t know… Kawasaki muscle bikes completely dominated the drag strip in the 70’s and 80’s. Umm… you’ve heard me talk about the Z1 / kz900 / kz100 before right? The GPz was the next generation and equally, if not more badass. 900cc. […]
