Philly dirt bike trails

I’m looking for more spots to ride dirt bikes around Philly. Comment and let me know if you know of anything else that is in the city limits or super close by in PA… not NJ. Also, comment if you know anything more about those spots I mention as I don’t know too much about them.

Check out the map below. Zoom in/out to see it all.
As far as I’m aware, these are the only locations to ride dirt bikes. None are legal. All are sketchy, and be prepared for someone to probably try and mug/stab you or call the cops.

  • A – kenzo trails
I rode back here all weekend. It’s awesome. Super sketchy though. Watch out for booby-traps and someone trying to mug you.
  • B – airport trails
Has anyone actually been back here? I went there yesterday, and now there’s a big fence. It has an electric open gate portion which was open, so we went in real quick. I heard this is the most sketchy, ghetto spot in philly. Is it shut down now?
  • C – fairmount mountain bike trails
There’s really only one or two trails. Basically you’ll ride through it… pop out and then go on your way. Don’t expect to spend too much time back here I don’t think.
  • D – river road trails
I haven’t been back here yet, but I heard it’s good? Anyone know?
  • E – wissahickon fishbowl trails
This used to be crappy mountain bike trails behind the baseball field down in the bowl like area. It’d be fun to hit this up again.

Also… watch this video below. Philly cops don’t / won’t chase dirt bikes if you run away… Just saying…

Out running the cops could be a good idea, if you two didn’t have plates on the back of your bikes. Unless you boosted them.

    @nick
    Good call

I would stay off the Wissahickon trails. The Wissahickon is the crown jewel of the Fairmout Park system and the Friends of the Wissahickon put a lot of time and effort into maintaining those trails. The FoW are also pretty politically connected. If they got word of dudes tearing around their trails on dirt bikes I think they would crack down pretty hard. Particularly in the Wissahickon, but I think there would be a trickle down effect to other parts of Fairmount park and more of a crackdown on dirt bikes in general.

Not to mention the guys riding the trails on mtn bikes getting pissed and throwing a branch into your spokes as you pass them.

Mike and I were planning to check out trails near Bridgeport last year.

its supposed to 45 degrees this weekend. Anyone else wanna get dirtbikes out on Saturday for the Kenzo trails?

  8. ed says:

    @ben
    i’m in.
does your shit box run yet? ha

  9. Ben says:

    We will find out, @ed!

The river road trail is probably over grown by now. I’m a roxborough native and they have been cracking down hard on dirtbikes. The last time I went was maybe two years ago but every where you go within 20 mins cops will sure to be there. A lot of punks ruined it, trashing the neighborhood and such.

I’m late to the game here, but the River Road trails are overgrown. I try to rip through there on an air-cooled 90cc, but I can’t get enough air over the motor to keep it turning. No police chasing me though. There is a nice short track off of Port Royal Ave under the power lines that stays well-beaten.

  12. Jay says:

Oh also, not sure why no one has mentioned the PECO trails, or whatever they are called. 400 Schuylkill River Rd. Look at Google satellite view. Nice trails.

  13. Adam says:

@Jay, where are the River Road trails? I google earth viewed the 400 Schuylkill River Road trails and they look cool. Are both of these trails OK to ride or is there a chance of getting busted for trespassing or something?

  14. Jay says:

The peco trails are fairly common knowledge now. No threat of getting in trouble. Drop in there and you’ll see all sorts of trash which means people are back there regularly.

For the oval track, go on River Road to where Port Royal Ave comes to it. About 100 feet up Port Royal Ave on the left are high power lines. Roost up the bank there and you have the oval track.

  15. Jay says:

The oval track you might catch trouble for but there are plenty of difections to run. I’m on a small four stroke so I’m not as loud as you all. PECO trails are down a hill so no one will hear you.

  16. Jay says:

And I would stay out of the Wiss or Belmont entirely. There is a whole slew of people involved there that you don’t want to pass off. Wissahickon Ed is a particularly nice guy, but he puts too much work into the trails to see them destroyed. He owns the bike shop in Phoenixville.

Is thst place in Bridgeport Steve posted about good?

  18. Jason Sturts says:

I ride in trails at d and blvd in philly they are expanding it and making it nicer so cops have been back there more so i have been looking for other spots for me and my kids to ride any suggestions???

  19. Travis Neel says:

I live really close to the Port Royal power lines. The power lines there looked totally grown over in summer when I went to check on them. There is another PICO section just up from there on UMBRIA street next to the golf range. There is section of woods across from the gold range that I think is owned by the antenna farm. I rode there Sunday Feb 3, 2018 on my Montesa (which is sneaky quiet) and ran into a teenager on 80 cc db, he said he’s never had trouble there. I intent to do some trail grooming to make it a bit easier as it’s total bush wacking right now.

  20. Brack says:

Ive seen them taking hauling away atvs and dirtbikes riding around wissahickon trails forbidden drive.
I know of a few people who have been chased and either wrecked caught or were just caught without chase around roxborough area.
It seems like they don’t care for awhile and then all the sudden theres helicopters and 100 cops surround whatever lot or park ur in.
