New To Me: 1978 KZ1000

I’ve been looking to buy a KZ900/1000 for sometime now. I’ve searched on and off and was a bit discouraged by the condition and asking price for these bikes. After recently driving 4+ hours round trip to NYC to look at one that turned out to be a piece of shit I came across this KZ in Florida. The timing and price were right and I was ready to make it happen.

It was just picked up today and should be getting delivered sometime in March. I’m excited to see it in person and go fucking KZ1000 fast.

Can you guess the 2 vintage aftermarket parts on it that I’m pumped about…

For reference, below is the $2000 78 KZ1000 from nyc. It looks better in photos than in person. Every part on it was fucked and it hadn’t run since the 80’s. Good luck to whoever gets this turd.

The vintage seat and the vintage grips?

  5. Steve says:

Obviously its the “enhanced seat cover” and custom gold pin-striping.

  6. Tom says:

I wanna say you are pumped about that super comfy seat for you and the mrs. but you are probably more psyched for the Kerker and those mags.

  7. Chone says:

    Lesters?

  8. Adam says:

Yea the vintage Kerker and Lester mags. The 18″ rear I think is more rare than the 16″ I’ve typically seen.

Great Lakes tour – day 13

Destination – put in bay ohio So… Lake Erie is fucking gross. Bacteria levels so high it’s unsafe for people to swim in it. Fuck it though… We swam anyway. So we officially swam in all 5 Great Lakes. In Ohio we kept seeing signs for something called “put in bay”. I had no clue […]
