Ryan just bought this kz650. The seat was a huge gross king+queen seat. As a temporary solution we decided to trim it down until ryan can get it professionally reupholstered. Turkey cutting knife. Jomar – brown vinyl. $6. Get it tight. Not perfect, but way better than king+queen seat.
So, a lot of you won’t believe this, but I got new bike! I know everyone’s shocked, but nonetheless, it happened. I loved the Husqvarna, but it was murder sitting on it for more than 45 minutes, and my girl-girl couldn’t ride with me on it, so that kind of sucked. I really liked my […]
If you missed the camping trip, you missed out big time. Sat night was pretty awesome. I was on auto-pilot the whole night. I’m sure you’ll hear some of the stories of the craziness that went down at the “bars”. haha. Check “I like the weekend” for all the images!
Seat is finally 100% done. Took about 2 months from conception on paper to finished product. It was my first time doing metal stuff like this. The seat def has some minor imperfections… but it has character. I designed the pad, and had someone upholster it for me.
Last Sunday we decided to take a trip down to Ocean City to spend the day relaxing in the sun. My lady Juli shot these photos while riding on the back of my 550… Chris led us on some nice roads through Jersey. Kevin roasting the RD smoking out everyone behind us. Ricky’s pull cable […]
Got the tail light on today. Looks pretty cool. I’m psyched. Now all that’s left on the seat is to sand down the top, and coat it with Boeshield T-9. Seat pad is at the upholstery place right now getting made.
The seat isn’t finished yet. But at least it’s on the bike now. It’s rubber-mounted in 4 spots, distributing my weight, so I’m hoping the seat doesn’t vibrate to death and break itself apart. Fingers-crossed. Made some gusset brackets for the mounting hinges. Good idea adam. They look cool. License plate… crotch rocket style. Right […]
Last week I took a trip out to Chicago to visit my good friend Ryan. We’ve rode bmx for years and on one of our last bmx adventures around the southwest riding some of the best cement parks (chandler park, Phoenix AZ) I got him psyched on finding an old Honda … A few months […]
So, anyone who knows me knows that I go through motorcycles faster than most people go through shoes – I’ve had four in the last year. I get itchy feet and am forever on the hunt for my perfect motorcycle. In keeping with that tradition, I recently sold my 2007 Speed Triple to buy a […]
New seat is 1/2 of the way welded. Pic below is a mock-up of it on the bike with a seat pad …just so you you can get an idea of what it’ll actually look like on the bike. I got all the pieces to fit almost perfectly. Then I spot welded it together… Then […]
Good time last night.
So, I’m still working on the seat for the cb650. This is my first time working with metal since high-school metal shop. So, it’s been a while. I’m pretty much winging it. Below are my steps for figuring out what I’m doing and how I’m doing it. So far it’s turning out real good. I’m […]

Everything about this is awesome. Jason, Dan, Vinny, and Eric had a wild time past weekend. Those guys have an impressive shop setup and are a wealth of cycle and fabrication knowledge.
The tank on my 550 looks clean from the outside but it had a lot of crusty rust inside. I’ve used muriatic acid to clean tanks before but I wanted to try another method. So, I talked to my buddy Ryan who is a material scientist of sorts for a living and he gave me […]
Adam always wanted a cb550. On the way back from Denver my chain snapped. We ended up stranded in Morgantown PA. A random guy named Dan came to help us. He had two cb550’s in his garage up the street from where we broke down. He gave me the chain off his bike so we […]
I’m really into the single cylinder choppers. I’ve got some ideas for when I get my hands on one and it involves big knobby tires… Kev’s Suzuki Savage:
Here is an alternative way to produce a tail section for your bike with a minimal amount of tools and about $50 worth of material. Materials needed: Epoxy Resin, Fiberglass resin, Fiberglass cloth, Sandpaper in varying grits, Paint and Primer, Painters tape, Aluminum tape or Tin foil (The tape is better and more expensive. Don’t […]
Hey, I’m excited about the positive feedback about my shop girl posts, thanks! This week I helped Rob as he experimented with building his first ever cafe seat. After deciding the shape, we made a cardboard pattern and mocked it up on a frame to make sure the proportions were right. Then we traced the […]
