Off-road dirt bikes to beach

This has been on my list for years now.

Ride dirt bikes from philly to the beach, as much off road as possible. Camp at beach, then ride back, again as much off road as possible.

Well, we did it. Dana on his XT500 and me on the IT250.

We met Mike A and Steve E in the woods at Mikes cabin, and did the route together. Mike led a great route and Steve found awesome renegade camping on edge of LBI beach. Amazing lunch spot called Lucille’s Country Cooking … we went twice.

My IT250 does not like to sit on the highway at 60mph for 20-30 mins. The piston may or may not have seized for a min and locked the rear wheel up and skidded to a stop… its a mystery what happened.

6 min vid below.
We encountered pretty much every different terrain the Pine Barrens has.

That ride/the whole weekend was awesome. Need to make this an annual thing at least.

    List of things that broke:
    -Phone Handlebar Mount
    -Backpack strap attachment
    -My 1 remaining mirror
-Lost my bite valve off my hydration pack

And I would consider everything a huge success.

Steve had to finish putting his bike together Saturday morning, but I think the trip was, for the most part, a big feather in the cap for the vintage bikes.

Dana’s ability to keep up with the least suspension travel and the least aggressive tires was also pretty impressive.

Hey — it’s the guy from Thursday’s ride with the Yamaha that died in Conshohocken. I got it started and hauled it home. Didn’t have any other way to reach out except leaving a comment here.

PA trip – day 5

Destination – raystown lake. We left state college and stopped by the honda dealer I worked at. Said hey to some old friends and lubed my chain. So… I remember the owner of the dealership always had cool motorcycles. Just so happens that he has another cool toy; a jap spec suzuki 250cc 2-stroke GP […]
